About the Program
The NCSU Aquatic Plant Management Program is one of the largest programs in the world focused on aquatic plant biology and management. We conduct research and extension across the US and internationally.
Research
Our research trials are conducted to improve understanding of aquatic plant biology and management techniques. Selected research efforts include:
- Monoecious hydrilla biology and management
- Crested floating heart biology and management
- Evaluation of new management techniques for aquatic plant management
- Evaluation of autonomous and other new technologies for incorporation into aquatic plant management
Extension
We deliver results from our applied research and that of others along with other relevant information to aquatic resource managers and stakeholders. This is conducted through public meetings, professional conferences, resource advisory groups, site surveys, printed publications, and electronic resources. Selected extension efforts include:
- North Carolina Agricultural Chemicals Manual (Aquatic Plant Management Section)
- Water Resource Advisory Groups
- Aquatic Vegetation Surveys
- Aquatic Plant Management Societies
